About DrumShack Abilene

Founded in 2021 by Cody Johnson, DrumShack Abilene is a private drum lesson studio dedicated to providing a professional, personalized learning experience for students of all ages and skill levels.

Located near the center of Abilene, Texas, DrumShack operates as a private teaching studio rather than a traditional retail storefront. To protect the privacy of our students and families, the studio address is provided after a lesson has been booked.

From 2021 through early 2026, Cody served as DrumShack’s sole instructor, teaching hundreds of students both in person and online while developing the studio’s curriculum, systems, and teaching philosophy. As the studio continued to grow, Cody expanded DrumShack by bringing on Head Instructor Jarrod Light, whose years of experience as a performer and educator have helped continue the studio’s commitment to high-quality instruction.

Today, Jarrod leads the majority of weekly instruction while Cody focuses on the day-to-day operation of the studio, curriculum development, student experience, and the continued growth of DrumShack.

More than anything, DrumShack strives to provide a professional and welcoming environment where students can develop not only as drummers, but as musicians. Every aspect of the studio—from scheduling and communication to lesson planning and curriculum—is designed to create a consistent, organized, and enjoyable experience for both students and their families.
